Love, Your Body

Love, Your Body is an ongoing visual study for a series of love letters from the body to self that will eventually be both a book and social media campaign. Conceptually, it is an exploration of my relationship between a body that I have had a difficult relationship with for much of my life, and is aimed to demonstrate the journey and revelations found in mending that relationship. Formally, interactions of type, illustration and photography represent a rearranging of internal relationships between body, self and cultural experience.

Each letter represents an internal monologue of experiences: reminders, observations, and hopes in a journey towards acceptance, trust, and unconditional love for my fat body despite a culture that condemns it. I wanted to design something that could bring these experiences and messages beyond the gallery to the communities that need to hear them most, with plans to develop this study into a social media campaign, book and social experiment I’d like to try in the near future.
