The negative meaning the word fat carries, especially in reference to the human body, is confining—a restriction on beauty and worthiness that marginalizes bodies that don’t fit a social/cultural ideal. This study experiments with the fragmentation of body and word, allowing the decontextualized curves of the body to break free from the stigma the label ‘fat’ imposes so the beauty of the fat feminine form may be observed and appreciated outside of our notions of conventional cultural standards of thinness.
