Memory Box
Handmade (3x3x9in) box constructed with 70pt book board and covered in CM Pearl Linen Charcoal Grey book cloth and lined with handmade paper, with an inset magnet on the over hang to clasp closed. The pages are printed on Savoy 90lb cover weight soft white paper, and is bound in a gatefold structure—each page folded in three and sewn together on the folds to the pages before and after it, making each page a try-fold room-like structure. 2019.
Memory Box
Memory box is a collection of short stories written from memories encountered by the objects of my childhood. I photographed each object, wrote wrote 27 short stories recalling the memories each item embodies, designed, printed and hand made an edition of 5 of books. I chose this particular sculptural form as a representation of the networks of memories that create who we are. This book allows each memory to occupy its own individual room while still tethered to the messy, scattered web of thoughts and experiences that create individual identity.
